The Minister for Finance Prof. Edward Scicluna explains to the Times of Malta that the Opposition’s recent attacks regarding the National Statistics Office Director General’s position is a storm in a tea cup. He explained that it is normal procedure for a call for applications to be held when the post of a Director General within the Public Service expires. He said that this is what is happening in this case also, adding that the call for applications for the post will be also open to foreign applicants in the interest of ensuring that the best possible candidate is selected to head this crucial entity. He underlined that this does not preclude the previous incumbent from also applying for the post.
