Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna met Pascal Saint-Amans – Director, Centre for Tax Policy and Administration at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) who was visiting Malta for informal talks on prevailing tax issues which are currently of international interest.

In particular, talks centred around the international tax environment as well as EU and global efforts in combating tax evasion and enhancing tax certainty. Malta’s EU Presidency Work Programme on tax matters was also discussed. Furthermore, Malta’s engagement in OECD tax initiatives, in particular through its membership and participation in the OECD Inclusive Base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) Framework and its engagement in other global fora such as the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Matters were highlighted.
