The Ministry for Finance has reached an agreement with MaltaPost plc whereby taxpayers will be able to pay their income tax and social security contributions at MaltaPost branches throughout Malta and Gozo.
PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR FINANCE
Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna said that thanks to this agreement, taxpayers who prefer to call at the Floriana Cash Office to settle their tax dues will be able to do so at any of the 40 MaltaPost branches in Malta and Gozo.
This service is part of a wider government policy to provide services closer to the citizen, such as those provided through the website servizz.gov and the service provided by tax officers visiting locations in Malta to help citizens with their tax obligations.
MaltaPost and the Inland Revenue Department, in collaboration with the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) are in the final stages of finalising the technical IT work and the service will be operational in July 2017.
“This service, which is free of charge,” continued the Finance Minister, “will make life easier for the general public, given that over 45,000 persons called at the Floriana Cash Office last year”.
