“Is-Soċjalisti kienu aktar attenti għall-pariri tal-ekonomisti”

Il-politika ta’ Merkel ma hi xejn differenti minn ta’ bankier. Bankier li jsellfek il-flus u jsib li għandek xi problemi biex tħallsu lura, ikun lest li jgħinek pero’ taħt kundizzjonijiet stretti. Jekk ir-raġuni ta’ falliment jew kważi falliment ġej mill-infieq, il-bank ikun iridek tara minn fejn taqla’ iktar flus u tnaqqas l-ispiża. Il-kumplikazzjoni ta’ pajjiż, bħal negozju, hi li biex tkabbar u tinvesti trid tonfoq. U hawn hi l-problema. Il-Ġermanja s’issa insistiet biex isir qtugħ biss fl-infieq. Waqt dan kollu l-politika soċjalista kienet iktar attenta għal dawk il-pariri minn ekonomisti ewlenin li filwaqt li jaqblu li għandu jkun hemm kontrolli fuq l-infieq għal quddiem, illum hemm bzonn li l-ewwel noħorġu mill-kriżi u mir-riċessjoni.  Konna aħna il-Grupp tal-Allejanza ta’ Soċjalisti u Demokratiċi fil-Parlament Ewropew li filwaqt li konna qegħdin nidduskutu r-regoli ġodda magħrufa bħala s-Six Pack, konna nisħqu fuq idejat ġodda biex tirrisolva il-kriżi tal-ewro u nagħtu każ it-tkabbir ekonomiku li mingħajru ser nibqgħu nduru f’ħofra. Fost ir-rimedji hemm l-idea tal-Eurobonds, iktar flessibilita’ fil-politika monetarja mħaddma mill-Bank Ċentrali Ewropew, u mod aħjar kif jitħaddem il-Fond Temporanju Ewropew għall-iStabilita Finanzjarja, u warajh il-Mekkaniżmu Permanenti Ewropew għall-iStabilita.

Il-problema tas-soċjalisti kienet sa ftit ilu illi kellhom prodott tajjeb u ma kienx hemm gvern ta’ saħħa li seta jbiegħu fil-Kunsill. Bir-rebħa tal-President François Hollande dan il-prodott li nistgħu nsejħulu l-Patt għat-Tkabbir Ekonomiku issa kellu it-tieni l-ikbar pajjiż warajh, Franza.

Il-pajjiżi taż-żona ewro tista’ tgħamilhom wara xulxin fi speċi ta’ taraġ f’dik li hi stabbilita’. Il-Ġermanja hi l-iktar b’saħħitha u l-inqas hi il-Greċja. Il-pajjiżi l-oħra inkluż Malta qegħdin x’imkien fin-nofs.  Biex tkun taf eżatt ħares lejn ir-Ratings tal-pajjiż jew lejn l-imgħax li jintalab iħallas kull darba li jasal biex jissellef.  Iktar mhu għoli l-imgħax li jintalab ikbar l-instabbilita’. Kien għalhekk li l-Prim Ministru tal-Italja Mario Monti fl-aħħar Summit fi Brussels kiseb rebħa billi insista li Merkel tibdel ir-rotta.  Għaliex jekk pajjiżu ser jibqa jiġi attakkat mis-swieq internazzjonali  wara dawk ir-riformi kollha illi għadda, dan jirrifletti fuq il-politika ta’ Merkel li hija skaduta.

Wasal iż-żmien li ż-żewġ naħat joqorbu lejn xulxin u jkollna politika waħda Ewropea li toħroġna minn dan l-istaġnar li għalkemm beda bil-kriżi finanzjarja, tkompla bin-nuqqas ta’ għaqda, viżjoni ċara u soluzzjonijiet vijabbli. Minn hawn ġewwa Brussels kull soluzzjoni li ħarġet mis-Summits passati inkluż l-aħħar wieħed kienu dejjem “too little, too late“. Din id-darba qed jidher xaqq dawl, pero’ għadu l-bogħod ħafna.
