‘Il-wirt li se nsibu huwa wirt ta’ dejn iżda mhux se naqtgħu qalbna. Għandna mexxej dinamiku u mimli enerġija. Aħna xogħolna hu li nwaqqfu d-dejn milli jkompli jikber u nkabbru l-ekonomija u mhux nissikkaw iċ-ċinturin biex inħallsu d-dejn li ħalla ħaddieħor.’ Dan qalu l-Ewroparlamentari Laburista l-Professur Edward Scicluna f’laqgħa oħra ta’ diskussjoni ‘Ejja u Staqsi’ nhar il-Ħamis 31 ta’ Jannar fi Studio 7, Birkirkara. Kif jagħmel dejjem f’dawn il-laqgħat il-Prof Scicluna wieġeb għadd ta’ mistoqsijiet li sarulu mill-membri tal-udjenza dwar suġġetti varji fosthom l-ekonomija, l-użu tal-fondi tal-Unjoni Ewropea, l-immigrazzjoni irregolari u l-effett ambjentali tal-fish farms.
“The legacy that we will find is a legacy of debt but this will not discourage us. We have a dynamic and vibrant leader. We will aim stop the debt from increasing and work towards economic growth and we will not tighten our belts to pay debts left by others.” This was said by Labour MEP Professor Edward Scicluna during another public discussion Ejja u Staqsi on Thursday 31 January at Studio 7, Birkirkara. Prof. Scicluna answered a number of questions put forward from members of the audience on various topics including the economy, the use of European Union funds, illegal immigration and the impact of fish farms on the environment.
