Labour MEP Professor Edward Scicluna joined a protest organised by the Birżebbuġa Aquatic Sports Club on Saturday 14th April. The residents of Birżebbuġa were protesting about the fact that they have been waiting too long for the redevelopment of the pitch, which had been promised in the budget for 2010. The residents complained that they have been long deprived of their waterpolo pitch despite persistent lobbying for this project to materialise. A clubhouse, which was supposed to be demolished in 2009, was also left in a dangerous state. Prof. Scicluna discussed these issues with Mr George Farrugia, Club President, and the members of the Committee. Also present was Dr Franco Debono MP who is the Club’s Honorary President and Legal advisor and with whom Scicluna had an amicable chat.

Prof Scicluna jingħaqad fi protesta b’appoġġ għar-residenti ta’ Birżebbuġa

Il-MPE Laburista il-Professur Edward Scicluna ngħaqad f’appoġġ għall-protesta organizzata mill-Birżebbuġa Aquatic Sports Club nhar is-Sibt 14 ta’ April. Ir-residenti ta’ Birżebbuġa kienu qed jipprotestaw minħabba li ilhom ħafna jistennew l-iżvilupp tal-pitch, li kien imwiegħed fil-baġit tat-2010. Ir-residenti lmentaw li ilhom imċaħħda minn pitch tal-waterpolo minkejja lobbying kontinwu biex dan il-proġett iseħħ.  Bini tal-Klabb li kellu jitwaqqa’ fl-2009 tħalla fi stat perikoluż. Il-Prof. Scicluna ddiskuta dawn il-problemi mas-Sur George Farrugia, President tal-Klabb u l-membri tal-Kumitat. Scicluna tkellem ukoll ma’ Dr Franco Debono MP li huwa l-President Onorarju u konsulent legali tal-Klabb u li kien ukoll preżenti għal din il-protesta.
