The Minister for Finance Prof. Edward Scicluna received a courtesy call from Mr. Hannes Swoboda, a Member of the European Parliament and the President of the EP Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), on Monday 12th May 2014.

During the meeting, Prof. Scicluna gave Mr. Swoboda an overview of the Maltese economy, highlighting milestone achievements by the Labour Government during its first year in office, and also the Government’s plans for the future.

Prof. Scicluna and Mr. Swoboda also had occasion to discuss the general economic outlook in Europe.

During the meeting, Mr. Swoboda expressed satisfaction with the work being carried out by the current Government, and expressed appreciation at how the country is on a strong economic and financial footing, noting that this augurs well for Malta’s future.
