Minister for Finance Prof. Edward Scicluna received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Spain H.E. José Pons on Friday 17th October, 2014.
During the visit, Minister Scicluna and H.E. Pons touched upon various issues of mutual interest to both Malta and Spain.
These included the ongoing economic troubles being felt within the European Union, how both Spain and Malta were affected by it, and the importance of facilitating investment and business so as to stimulate economic growth.
Both Prof. Scicluna and H.E. Pons agreed that relations between Malta and Spain can be developed to a greater and more significant degree by means of a closer working relationship, and greater diversification into new areas of cooperation.
They both augured that through greater and closer cooperation, both Malta and Spain would benefit from a deeper friendship between the two countries.
