Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna, has received a visit from the Secretary General of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE), Mr Rainer Riess, who is currently in Malta on a preparatory visit in connection with the Annual FESE Convention that will be held on the island in June 2016.

The FESE represents 36 exchanges in equities, bonds, derivatives and commodities through 19 full members from 30 countries within the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland. Malta is represented by the Malta Stock Exchange.
The issues discussed during the meeting, which was held at the Ministry for Finance, Valletta, on Friday 30th October, included FESE’s position on the various EU regulations and directives coming on stream in the financial field as well as economic development in Malta and the European Union. Minister Scicluna wished Mr Riess and his team well for their ongoing preparations in respect to next year’s convention in Malta.
Also present for the meeting were Malta Stock Exchange Chairman, Mr Joseph Portelli, and Chief Executive Officer, Ms Eileen Muscat.
