Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna was in London at the invitation of the special envoy to the Prime Minister for investment and promotion, Joe Zammit Tabona. He was also accompanied by the Chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange, Joseph Portelli, and his Chief of Staff, Paul Debattista.

The purpose of the visit was to meet with various senior officials from the financial services industry in the city to discuss various investment opportunities available in Malta.

During this visit, Minister Scicluna was also a special guest on the Bloomberg live television programme ‘Surveillance’, hosted by Francine Lacqua in London and Tom Keene in New York.

He also met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Sir Suma Chakrabarti, where views on Malta’s role in the region and the EBRD’s initiatives for the coming year were exchanged. Sir Suma was accompanied by Maria Kohlweg, Secretary General of EBRD, Enzo Quattrociocche and Director of EBRD, Johannes Seiringer.
